The Legendary Percussionist, Papo Pepin was born in Rio Pierdias, Puerto Rico.
He migrated with his family to Brooklyn,N.Y. at the age of two. His father Tono Pepin ( was the first bongocero of Tito Puente back in the 50's) taught his prodigy child to pound on the congas at the age of three. By the time the young Papo Pepin was six he was already recording on his fathers records with his fathers band" Daxrio Grand Combo." Once he reach, his teens and still studying at the Music Academy of Brooklyn, he would take time out to travel with big band names like Tito Puente, Machito and Graciela and Mario Bausa. His roster of stars include the best in salsa,mambo and Latin Jazz mus, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Chico O'Farrell, Victor Manuelle, Louis Ramierez, La India, Roberto Roena, Mark Anthony,Desi Arnaz jr., Orchestra and over 400 more. He appeared in the Jennifer Lopez production of "El Cantante" and recorded on the soundtrack of "The Mambo Kings." He also recorded on the sound track of Africando series.Vernom Vogg dedicated a entire chapter in his book " Salsalogy." Papo Pepin has releast two of his own cd's and conducts,travels and performs with his own Orchestra Yimbaraco.
