    When I told Dani I got Melissa an engagement guitar instead of a ring he suggested I get it engraved or something. He's so brilliant. I had Dave from Scale Model Guitars make me a custom truss rod cover with an engagement ring inlay I desgined. He's awesome.

    She'd said if I got her a ring she'd love and cherish it but she'd always think "That's a lot of gear". Most of her jewelry costs less than a burrito. She worships a different sort of jewel and I wanted to honor that. Al helped me find a guitar I thought she'd LOVE and love showing off. I got up off my knees and said "No one's in the practice space tonight. Let's go try it!" I was lying. Earlier I'd called her other band, Reptoids, and Al and Jeanne to meet us there for a surprise party.
