Formed in Hamina, Finland, in 2002, Paganus specialize in that unique genre -- doom metal -- that gives listeners four-song albums that clock in at nearly an hour.
At least that applies to this particular group of slab metal merchants, whose debut full-length -- recorded in 2006 -- fit those exact measurements. A few lineup shuffles ensued over the years, with the band finally settling on Markus Lanki (vocals), Manu Liira (guitars), Teemu Muhli (bass), Mikko Nenonen (noise), and Tomi Pekkola (drums) just in time to be signed to Jerusalem-based label Totalrust Music. Their debut for their new label, Paganus, was released in 2008 to a warm critical reception. ~ Chris True
