Path breakers of Indian (Hindi) Rock, BBC Introducing band PUNKH (erstwhile Guru) was formed in Germany 2003.
Founded by Deepak Nair (Dean), the band is presently based out of New Delhi, India.

EMI Virgin Records released the bands self-titled debut album in 2008.

PUNKH was also featured on an international compilation album released by EMI Music - France 'Voyage au coeur de l'inde' [Songs from the heart of India] and the Compilation Album India Rocks Vol -1 by Virgin Music, India in 2009.

Lead vocalist Deepak Nair undertook frontman duties for Bandish (2009-2011) and was featured alongside popular singer KK and master percussionist Pete Lockette on the bands 2nd album with Universal Music, India.

PUNKH's second album Karmah saw a digital release by Hungama.com in 2014.

The songs from Karmah were recorded and produced in Germany by reputed nu-metal producer Marcus Tescke.
