Ol was born in Huddersfield, UK on March 28th 1984.
He started to play the guitar around 1996 when he was 12 and was playing live by 16. in 1999 Ol played lead guitar for a local covers band called Metal Militia. In 2003 the band became bored with playing covers and began to write their own material; this is when Evile was formed.
Evile released 4 studio albums with Ol between 2006 and 2013 with Earache Records ("Enter the Grave", "Infected Nations", "Five Serpent's Teeth" and "Skull") touring around the world in such places as the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, The United States, Canada and Taiwan.
Ol spent several years throughout his teenage years learning and transcribing most of Annihilator's back-catalogue for the guitar. Annihilator master-mind, Jeff Waters, would later add these transcriptions to the Official Annihilator website.
"I learned most of what I know from spending so many years playing Jeff Waters' riffs and leads; he is one of the most underrated guitarists in Metal" - Ol Drake
The classic Thrash Metal band Destruction invited Ol to step in on guitar for a short period, to be later invited to guest on their two albums "Day of Reckoning" and "Spiritual Genocide". After the passing of Evile's Mike Alexander, Destruction invited Ol on stage at Damnation Festival to pay tribute to him by playing some of Mike's favourites with the band.
Comedian and Musician, Tim Minchin, invited Ol to play "Rock N Roll Nerd" on stage at Sonisphere Festival 2010.
Legendary Noise-Merchants G.W.A.R. invited Ol's Scumdog Alter-Ego to guest on the album "Battle Maximus" to pay tribute to the fallen Flattimus Maximus.
In may 2012 Ol was nominated by Metal Hammer's Golden God Award "Dimebag Darrell Shredder" alongside Devin Townsend and Dino Cazares.
In August 2013 Ol Announced he would be leaving Evile.
"I lived a dream with Evile and had a great time doing it. The band are carrying on and I wish them the best of luck; the music business is a tough one." - Ol Drake
In September 2013 Ol announced he had started writing material for a solo venture. The project would be called "Old Rake", which originated from fans of Evile's play on the name "Ol Drake".
The solo album is scheduled for a late 2014 release.
