Are You Tired of WatchingM.C.’s, Rap Over Beats On Stage And Then Call It a Show?

I am. I'm sick and tired of it. I started playingaround on my mom's piano when I was 6 years old, picked up lessons at age 7,learned the basics of drums at age 10, started writing my own lyrics andrapping when I was 14 and taught myself to make instrumentals on keyboards whenI was 17. I've been an active musician, producer, song writer, studio engineer, marketing promoter and graphic artist, ever since. I have somewhere around,50-60 songs (solo and featuring me) under my belt. I've done 20+ live shows, recorded a solo album, entitled “$antiago Bad Newz”, available in stores now (www.cdbaby.com/santiagomusic)and on itunes. I’ve recorded a 30 track mixtape www.soundclick.com/nuttymixxxcrazy shit, lol

Instrumental producersare great, for studio recordings, but it's the ones who actually think aboutthe lyricist's flow while they're making the beat, that really stand out. Forexample, Dr. Dre makes a beat knowing only Eminem can rap on it, or Timbalandis called in to record a song for Talib Kweli and says to himself, "I needto make the beat with Talib in the studio giving me feedback, because I'venever worked with this artist before". At any rate, live shows with arapper, playing a beat off a CD, is okay I guess, but it's not for me. Andanybody that says no, is missing the whole point of where rap music came from.Rappers rapped over sampled beats in the 70's and 80's as a necessity, becausethey couldn't get bands to back them up, simply because the genre wasn'trespected yet. That's why most of the rappers of the early 80's and 90's, crewsor solo, ALWAYS had a DJ. Most of the time he was considered part of the group, not just somebody in the background. i.e. Eric B. & Rakim, Rob Base and DJEZ Rock, NWA had DJ Yella,...shit even Lil Wayne recognizes the need for a DJin a show..."Go dj, yeah thats my dj"!!

I can't expressenough, how lucky I feel sometimes, listening to old school rap, when I look atthe examples of rap/hiphop of today. I honestly feel very fortunate to be 36and having been young in the 80's and witness to the first white rappers (BeastieBoys), the first huge rap duo (Run DMC) and the first rap love song (LL CoolJ), and all subsequently came from the same rap label (Def Jam). By the way myfriends, that's not a coincidence. That's a gift.

But it's 2012 andbelieve me rap music is respected on a worldwide level. Look at Lil Wayne, WizKhalifa, Mac Miller, etc, etc. and the list goes on. In my opinion, anyrespectable emcee in 2012 should have either a band or a very skilled DJ,providing their music in a live show. Any punk can grab a beat offwww.soundclick.com/instrumentals and whine about his life. Is this what realmusic has come to?

So I want to start a band. I can rap (sing a little') andhave no problem being one of 2 or 3 front men/emcees for this band. Kind oflike "The Roots", "Rage Against The Machine" meets,"Wu Tang Clan" definitely fires me up. But I dig everything fromSmokey Robinson to Godsmack. I need a bassist, a drummer, a guitarist or 2, akeyboardist and possibly a DJ. If you're already a band and looking to do arap/funk/rock project with a talented emcee like me, than this is perfect.

I DO NOT NEED M.C.’s!!! I have many, many friends thatflow, rap, spit, whatever you wanna call it, and that record locally, who areseriously pursuing music careers, promoting albums and doing shows, that wouldlove to be a part of this project. But if you are a front man/singer of a bandand looking to add an emcee to the act (something like Linkin

Park

or Hed p.e.),PLEASE REPLY!!

I have the recordingeducation and the recording experience to put all of our music to media formatand promote it. I don't credit myself as a producer or a studio engineer, butin the process of wanting certain projects completed in a timely manner, without dealing with the lackadaisical attitude of the average unpaid musician,I've engineered and mixed over 70 songs myself. To hear some of my music, allof which I mixed in my own studio, go to:

So do I have any takers??

I'm sending a special message strictly to emcees. StopRapping Over Beats and Expecting the Outcome to be Anything Mind-Blowing. DoNot Waste Your Money Buying Beats, There's A Million Free Beats OnSoundclick.com, So That Tells You How Lame That Approach Is. DO NOT RAP FOR THEFAME OR FOR MONEY!!! If you love hip hop get a job, slang some weed or live offyour girlfriend, until you get a record deal. The more you think about moneywhile your writing music, the weaker your lyrics sound, trust me, WE CAN ALLTELL!
