After playing the first NONCANON show as a solo act with Maple Stave and Analogue at Local 506 in October 2005, Daniel Vaughn (formerly of Mothlight, Hourly Radio, Tsiknus and numerous others) began recruiting fellow musical imagineers to help create a conduit for his exploratory songwriting work.
Starting in Raleigh and wending its way to Philadelphia (then back again), NONCANON has taken on many forms, from electronic duo to power trio to acoustic quartet and everything in between. As suggested by the name, NONCANON is not beholden to any particular genre or self-limiting qualifiers. The purpose of the music is to connect in a pure manner, without overly orchestrated choruses and codified codas. We willfully modify the modus operandi with impish impunity. Enjoy.Or not.
