Coming from San Diego, CA, and playing tense and silvery themes of inflammable punk-style compositions, Noise Ratchet claims their very own corner on the alternative rock scene.
Forming in April 1999, Ratchet was comprised of a lineup including Joe Hosler (bass, vocals), Roger Molina (guitar), and Brandon Young (drums). Influenced by the works of bands like Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Jets to Brazil, the Californians assembled the most raving sounds of rock with emo's melodic assets, delivering a unique kind of sound. After a year of rehearsals, the band started performing all across the local club area. During the following months the crew released two EPs, Never Going Back and Why We Cry, both achieving considerable results not only locally, but also beyond their state area. Following three major tours all across the Midwest and West Coast, Noise Ratchet entered the studio, preparing their first full-length album, 2002's Till We Have Faces. A self-titled EP followed in June 2003, but the band disbanded the following year, with several members going on to form the Americana outfit Delta Spirit. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges
