An original member of the Headshots, the crew that later went on to form the respected underground rap label Rhymesayers, Musab (who was known initially, both with Headshots and then with Dynospectrum, as Beyond) first started rhyming at age nine as a way to keep himself out of trouble.
After graduating from high school, Musab attended Music Tech in St. Paul, but left after six months, finding that it wasn't offering him what he wanted. Instead, he set about pursuing his rap career seriously, and by 1996 his debut, Comparison, came out. Three years later, Beyond's Be-Sides and Dynospectrum's self-titled debut were both released, and then in 2002, after having changed his name to Musab (he felt that he had outgrown Beyond), Respect the Life hit shelves. ~ Marisa Brown
