T2 had been producing garage tracks for a few years when he scored a number two hit in the U.K. with "Heartbroken" (November 2007), a single featuring lyrics and vocals from fellow Leeds, England, native Jodie Aysha.
It quickly became the biggest aboveground hit for bassline house to date -- bassline house (or just "bassline") being the perhaps inevitable and very much welcome re-emergence of female energy and pop sensibility within garage music. T2 followed it up by collaborating with the female duo Addictive on "Gonna Be Mine" (March 2008), as well as "Butterflies" (June 2008). ~ Andy Kellman
