I was born in Phalaborwa, but grew up at Maphophe Village in Limpopo Province, South Africa.
I am a 2nd born from a family of 6 - born of the late Hlengani John and Mphephu Maria Chauke.
I have been fortunate to have lived in various parts of the world. I spent 10 years in Cape Town, South Africa - studying at University of Cape Town and later working there. Though a Civil Engineer by profession, music has always been my passion and I have always dreamt that I will get to record my music and make a difference in people's lives through song.
After 10 years in Cape Town, I spent another 11 years in London, United Kingdom. This is where my musical journey really begun when I started performing in 2005 with Dominic Angadi, as a duo. Later on, I worked with brilliant musicians like: Sam McGowan, Thierry Deneux, Keith Miller, the late Steve Bullen, Dave Auguste, the legendary Kenny Chitsvatsva (Bhundu Boys), Barry Wright and Sutchara Barton. Together we have toured around the UK and played at gigs and festivals. The highlight of my music career was sharing a stage with the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi from Zimbabwe.
In May 2013, after 11 years in the UK I returned to South Africa to pursue work in my home country. One of my goals of coming back to South Africa was to re-established myself in the music industry. I have just started recording and I hope to have an album ready by the end of January 2014.
My musical career has been an interesting journey. I have not arrived yet and I continue to learn from the best in the industry. However, my mission is to spread the message of love, peace and hope through my music. Music is not just for entertainment only but should also inform, educate and give hope to the hopeless. That's my mission in life.
