Comprised of Tom Gardner, Rupert Brown, Anthony Truckell, and Jack Clutterbuck, the Isle of Wight-based four-piece Motion Pictures worked a gauzy amalgam of '60s pop and psychedelia, British folk tradition, and the freakier elements of Pink Floyd.
Work began on the band in 2003, back when they were still called Live Ambient Workshop. That project produced an EP, but the name soon gave way to Motion Pictures, and through some promising early gigs and the like secured a record deal with a subsidiary of Groove Attack called Town Full of Fonzies. Motion Pictures' self-titled full-length appeared in the U.K. in June 2005; its American release followed in August. ~ Johnny Loftus
