Abbie (b.
Abbie Sherman Morrison, 11 November 1876, d. 4 July 1965) and Apsie (b. Apsie Sherdon Morrison, 11 November 1876, d. 1964) were born in Searcy County, Arkansas. The Morrison family was musical and father, grandfather and an uncle were all noted fiddle players. The twins soon followed and played with various units and at fiddle contests for many years. In 1930, with Abbie’s guitarist sons Claude and Lawson, they were recorded in Memphis playing the traditional fiddle tunes ‘Dry And Dusty’ and ‘Ozark Waltz’. These were the only recordings they ever made and soon after, a family dispute saw Apsie move to another part of the State. They continued to play independently and both became respected as exponents of Ozark fiddle and string band music. County Records included the two recordings in their Echoes Of The Ozarks Volume 1.
