Although they were originally formed in Wellington, New Zealand, in the late '90s by friends Jono (vocals/guitar) and Ian Brock (lead guitar), death/thrash metal band Monsterworks would gradually shift their home base to England in the early 2000s amid the release of their first two albums: Dimensional Urgency (2000) and Rogue (2002).
Once settled in the U.K., the duo recruited bass player Hugo and drummer Chris Mills, and carried on releasing thinking man's death metal albums like M-Theory (2003) and The Precautionary Principle (2006), which were spiced with outer space themes and eccentricities that occasionally brought to mind bands like Anacrusis and Strapping Young Lad. The forward-thinking bandmembers even gave away their fifth album, Spacial Operations (2007), for free online, and their sixth album, Singularity, arrived in 2009. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
