New York City's Modrocket was formed in 2004 by a pair of Junior High students, Sandra Nazz and Alex Niemetz, who began jamming on a toy drum set and a Stratocaster guitar copy, respectively, and quickly decided to start a band.
To that end, they recruited fellow teens Alice Blythe (vocals) and Alanna Higgins (bass), and got busy penning their own songs, inspired by indie and garage rock influences ranging from the Stooges and the Velvet Underground, to Sonic Youth and Siouxsie and the Banshees. By 2007, Modrocket had recorded four of these songs and cobbled together an eponymous, self-released EP, which helped spread word of their precocious ambitions around the web, but has yet to transcend the novelty of their youth and lead to a proper recording contract. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
