Michael Mc Cague has been accompanying since the age of 16 on bouzouki and later on guitar, having played traditional fiddle from age 6 to17.
He has played in concert with the highly renowned fiddle player Frankie Gavin in The NCH Dublin for St Patrick's Day celebrations. In 2005 he played and recorded with Edel Fox (former TG4 young musician of the year) as well as with Seamie O Dowd and fiddle hero Brian Rooney. In 2006 he joined John Carty’s "At The Racket" with whom he recorded their third album, “It’s Not Racket Science”.
In 2009, Michael also joined John McSherry and Donal O'Connor's established group "At First Light", touring and performing regularly with the band.
He also played bouzouki in the Tribute to The Bothy Band, alongside such stalwarts of the traditional world as Mike McGoldrick, Cathy Jordan and John McSherry. They have played sell out shows, one of those being to 30,000 festival goers in Galicia, Spain. He has played on both Dave Sheridan's albums and has moulded a new driving Bouzouki and Guitar accompaniment with exceptionally tasteful chord progressions

Michael has tutored privately for years and continues to do so in Galway where he now resides.
He teaches guitar bouzouki to advanced professional levels and fiddle, banjo and concertina to intermediate levels.
He has played fiddle since the age of 7, banjo since he was 10 years old and concertina from age 17 onwards.
He has a deep interest in Music Composition within the idiom of Irish Music and is currently completing an album consisting entirely of self-composed works in the Irish Traditional format. This should be due for release in March 2014.
