She took an interest in music from a very early age. Mia’s ambitions to sing began at age seven when she asked mother if she could take voice lessons. Her mother called a music instructor who advised that Mia start with piano lessons. After the first two years of piano lessons Mia took an interest in guitar. “My dad and I tried to find the cheapest guitar we could, so we found a half-size thirty-dollar First Act acoustic from Mill’s Fleet Farm.” Mia is a self-taught guitarist and plays both guitar and piano to current day. Mia began writing songs at age 10.

When she was fourteen, Mia began taking voice lessons to incorporate classical training with her raw pop vocals. Mia Johnson has sung and played guitar for several small bands in Minnesota. She has performed in venues such as The Guthrie Theatre, First Avenue, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. She is currently working on her first EP In Me, I See You which will be released December 2013.
