Mericha Rochelle Walker was born to sing.
Originally from the island of New Providence in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Mericha has always had big dreams. As a baby she would drive her mother crazy making noises, excercising her vocal chords. As a toddler she would perform at seasonal concerts held at local malls and institutions. Growing up she spent the majority of her days at an after school programme at Gray's Music Centre. There she recieved 8 years of voice training while taking cello lessons as well. During this time she recieved the Darlene Laramore award for most improved female vocalist. Mericha impressed a very well known Bahamian artist, Kayla Lockhart-Edwards, who couldnt wait to see the artist Mericha would become when she got older. All throughout high school Mericha won awards, year after year, in various categories of the National Arts Festival. The most outstanding of these awards was Best Female Gospel Vocalist in the Bahamas 2004. After graduating high school in 2005, Mericha went on to The College of the Bahamas to study Music. While attending COB God placed the vision of Mericha's very first album into the heart of a mighty man of God. Ever since then Mericha has been ministering all over the country to people from all denominations. Mericha is often referred to as a "young worshipper" by the members of her church. She has always had dreams of singing for the masses. That dream is now unfolding right before her very eyes! In 2009, she was nominated for a Marlin Award in the "Adapted Praise & Worship Recording of the Year" category for the song "All That I Am" from her debut album "The Heart of Worship". In 2010 she was also nominated for two Marlin Awards in the adapted Praise & Worship Recording and Long-Form Video of the Year categories for her album and live DVD “The Heart of Worship Live”. In July 2012 she was recognized as one of the leading ladies of Gospel Music in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Mericha just recently recorded her third album on July 22nd, 2011 with a release date coming soon. Mericha has just completed a Bachelors Degree, in Youth Ministry and Worship Ministry at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada while touring with the school's leadership!
