Flint, Michigan's MC Breed debuted in 1991 beside DFC, a duo that consisted of Al "Alpha" Breed (cousin of MC Breed) and Bobby "T-Trouble E" Thompson (aka T-Dub).
After the release of the trio's self-titled breakthrough album, which featured the number 12 Billboard rap-chart hit "Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'," MC Breed went solo, while Alpha and T-Trouble E continued as DFC. Breed built a sizable, deeply respected catalog of solo releases prior to his 2008 death. DFC issued the star-studded Things in tha Hood (Big Beat/Atlantic, 1994) and the less successful The Whole World's Rotten (Penalty, 1997). ~ Andy Kellman
