Latin rock band from Chile Matahari was formed in 1996 by keyboardist Claudio Nervi, bassist Ernesto Duboy, and guitarist Edison Belmar, who were later joined by singer Karla Argandoña and Andrés Baeza.
After recording a demo tape, mostly influenced by American blues-rock, the band started touring the local club circuit. Soon, percussionist Marcelo Espíndola, drummer Max Ortíz, and singer Gloria Pérez became the new members. When the leading vocalist decided to leave the act, Ema Pinto, who was previously doing backup for Joe Vasconcellos, took her place. ~ Drago Bonacich
