Marilena Paradisi – Vocalist, composer, improviser, and tireless researcher and experimenter into the possibilities of the human voice, her range of expression stretches from jazz to so called ‘contemporary classical’. She has been acclaimed internationally for the depth and power of her interpretations in the main International reviews devoted to the field. From 2002 to 2011, Marilena has brought out as many as 6 albums under her own name, working beside top Italian and international musicians. The first three are jazz:“I’ll Never Be The Same” (Philology 2002), with the Eliot Zigmund trio, “Intimate Conversation” (Abeat Records 2004) in a duo with bassist Pietro Leveratto, the live Cd “Pensiero” Omaggio a Gino Paoli, in a trio with Renato Sellani and Dino Piana (Philology 2007). The last three fall under the category of contemporary and total improvisation, “Raibow Inside” (Silta Records 2010), with guitarist Arturo Tallini;
“Prelude For Voice and Silence” (Siltaclassics, 2011) solo voice and in a duo with Japanese singer Michiko Hirayama. Finally there is “ Come Dirti”, special guest Stefania Tallini, the sixth CD under her own name. She has studied the voice in various parts of the world, including ’India, where in 2009 she visited Mumbai for three months to study Ragas and classical Hindustani song. Here she also sang with the great Indian pianist Louis Banks and his trio at the Bangalore Jazz Festival and at the Blue Frog in Mumbai. With her artistiic projects Marilena has performed not only in Italy, but also in New York, Lisbon, Madrid and above all Berlin.
