Amandine Bourgeois is a French pop singer/songwriter who rose to fame in 2008 on the television talent show Nouvelle Star.
Born on June 12, 1979, in Angoulême, France, she was the first-place winner of the sixth season of Nouvelle Star, a French-language adaptation of Pop Idol. On June 11, 2008, during the final episode of the season, she sang the songs "Hey You" by Pink Floyd, "En Apesanteur" by Calogero, and "Somebody to Love" by Queen in competition against second-place runner-up Benjamin Siksou. Also that night she sang three songs in duet with Siksou: "Paroles, Paroles" by Dalida and Alain Delon, "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, and "C'est Vraiment Toi" by Téléphone. In the immediate aftermath of her first-place finish on Nouvelle Star, she was offered a major-label recording contract with Sony Music and went about writing and recording her full-length album debut, 20 m2 (2009). Co-written with others, 20 m2 proved popular upon its release, reaching the Top Ten of the albums chart in France, the Top Ten in Belgium, and the Top 30 in Switzerland. "L'Homme de la Situation," written by award-winning Québécois singer/songwriter Ariane Moffatt, was released as the album's lead single. ~ Jason Birchmeier
