PronouncedMā Queenie, the name means White QueenThe story starts not on the Mississippi delta but onthe banks of the Whanganui River, in the rural village of Jerusalem, NewZealand.
Mākuini was introduced at a young age to thesounds of, Mahalia Jackson, Etta James, Sarah Vaughan, and EllaFitzgerald.

Not long after arriving in the U.K Mākuini was castopposite Yul Brynner in the ‘King & I’ at the London Palladium. One of thehigh lights of her career being her appearance in the Royal Variety Show forHer Majesty The Queen, at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Over the years Makuinihas presented her ‘Ladies of Soul’ in residencies throughout the UK, Malta,Tenerife, Cyprus, Mallorca, Dubai and Cruise Ships around the world.

Mākuin had the honour of opening the 2013 RugbyLeagues World games televised around the world.

The recently released EP ' Roll of The Dice' and thealbum ‘Blues In My Bones’ have both received good press and reviews, with ‘I AmThe River’ being featured on the Classic Rock Blues Magazine cover album.

It is notonly her remarkable voice but her drive and personality that have made Mākuinione of New Zealand’s best loved singers around the world today.
