Magdalene St.
Michaels was born on June 3 1957, on the Island of Malta. Born to English parents, she returned to her native England while still a baby. After living in various places, her family settled in the county of Cornwall, where she spent most of her youth. Always keen to the arts and with natural ability, she excelled in acting, singing and dancing since an early age. In her early twenties she moved to the United States, where she continued to pursue acting in mainstream films, with roles in hit movies such as “ Executive Decision” and “Turk 182,” among others. The crossover to the porn industry only happened in 2007, at 49, after she had a chance meeting with the owner of Girlfriends Films, Dan O’Connell, in Las Vegas. She stopped by their booth during the closing minutes of the last day of the AEE/AVN Convention…and the rest is history. Here is her own account of the encounter that changed her life (excerpt of an interview to XCritic in 2012): "I was discovered here at the expo (AEE/AVN) in 2007. My husband and I actually needed a break from Los Angeles and we heard that there was something going on here. So we bought a pass for three days and we realized that, being night owls and this being Vegas—it’s a 24 hour city—that we didn’t actuallly go to the expo that we spent all this money for. So we went to the last hour and we see this sign at the back of the hall that says girl/girl, and there was Dan O’Connell from Girlfriends Films. He was in this little booth packing away his stuff, it was five to five literally, and he looked up at me and said, “Hi! Are you a model?” And he looked so surprised, like genuinely happy to see me. It took me by surprise but I told him that I did a when I was younger. I didn’t quite know what the term "model” meant and I said “Why do you ask?” and he said, “Well, I film girl/girl lesbian erotica and I’m looking for an older woman because we have an older/younger line. You walked up and you have a different look but I like it.” So I filled out an application and he asked, “Do you like women?” I said “Yeah I love women. I’ve been with women before. He told me the films have a lot of romance and kissing, touching, connection and passion and I thought that would be something I could be really good at, that I won’t be nervous about and I can apply my acting to it as well. That’s how I started six years ago.”
Dan O'Connell signed her up, and from that meeting, the career of an adult superstar was born. Her first feature film – which O'Connell wrote specially for her – was I Like To Kiss.
Although performing in both girl/girl and boy/girl movies and with more than 130 scenes to her credit, she is mostly noted and praised for her fierce, intense performances of girl/girl erotica. She has been nominated for the prestigious AVN Awards in the MILF/Cougar Performer of the Year category in 2009, 2010 and 2013. Earlier in 2013, she won the Mile High Media, Mile High Madness Tournament by popular vote, facing off against some of the most recognized, award winning performers of the Adult Industry. She is also noted for her activism in favor of animal causes.
