" -Lunacie
Born in Oakland, CA. and residing in the East Bay, Lunacie A.K.A. Big Lune, shows his versatility through his music which has been critiqued as, Stevie Wonder meets Charles Manson. At an early age, Lunacie learned to play a number of instruments including, piano, drums, saxophone, kalimbas, organ, & congas. Growing up, Lunacie listened to everything from "Hip-Hop to Rock, Blues to Pop, genre to genre & pretty much anybody thats creative & the best at what they do." This opened up a whole new world of music and inspiration to the already talented Lune. His mother recognized his talent at a young age so she tried to musically expose him to as much and as many styles as possible. Church and gospel music played a huge role in his upbringing as well so the soulful sound is evident through some of his work. Lune seemed to know that all music should be respected and valued across the board regardless of genre.
Writing has been an appeal for him as well. Poems, stories, even movies that have some sort of twist or surprise ending were scenarios that Lune said, "I wanted to be all over it." After hearing & witnessing a lot of bullsh*t being played on the radio and on T.V., Lune felt a new breath of talent was needed and he wanted to be that person. "Everybody was sayin how great this music was while I was disagreein thinkin, I can do better than that," and thats all it took to ignite the fire.
As far as the industry goes... Lunacie is an Independent artist who's been in the game since he produced his first album "Underground Disciples Vol. 1" (compilation) through Empirical Music Company in 2005 (available on iTunes, emusic, rhapsody, napster and many other websites that sell music).
After much traveling and many shows with his (then) group EMC Boyz, he felt it was time to release his own album. So Lunacie's Debut album "Need No Approval" was released in 2007. Since then He's produced many albums for bay area based artists and has had many songs placed in major motion pictures and in the background of many tv shows (i.e. A&E's "Gene Simmons family Jewel", PBS's "Weird Science", VH1's "40 Greatest Pranks 2", ect.)
Lately Lunacie has been performing often.. Opening for many major artist like T.I. & Souljah boy (video of performance currently on Youtube), Mike Jones, Mystikal, Rick Ross, Webbie, Trina, Trillville, to name a few. He's also been trying his hand in directing and producing music videos. His Latest "The Break-Up" which is available for view on VEVO.com .. All new videos are posted on his website Lunacie.net
Feeling like he may never get the proper push from a recording label necessary to be successful and having turned down record deals with major labels "Because I understood what I was reading and what I was reading was some bullsh*t..", Lunacie (along with some former business associates) decided to start a record label of their own. Lunacie is now CEO and artist with the hot new label Freshout Music Inc.
Lunacie - The Free Album is now available on Lunacie.net and bandcamp.com.. Stay tuned because Lunacie has multiple albums currently in the works... His solo album "I'm The Best", Game-Time's "Game On", Freshout Music's "Tha Takeover" Compilation, to name a few...
