A native of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Moore began singing in church in early childhood. By her early teens, she was singing lead in local choirs. Her professional career began a few years later when she netted a position as backing vocalist for one of her influences, Tramaine Hawkins, a post she held for five years. After several more years of performing with multiple gospel vocal groups, large and small, including appearances with the Gospel Music Workshop of America, she self-released her first solo recording, an EP titled Unlimited Praise, in 2004. That led to a spot on the Tyscot Records roster, and the label issued her debut long-player, Lucinda Moore, in 2006. It landed in the Top 20 of Billboard's gospel chart. In the meantime, she helped out on other artists' recordings, including working on arrangements for 2006's Grateful by Coko, singing on 2007's Restoration by Eric McDaniel and Instrument of Praise by Carman, and appearing on various group worship and choir releases. Her follow-up solo album, 2010's Blessed, Broken & Given, returned her to the gospel chart, where it reached number 13. Moore won a Stellar Award in 2011 for Traditional Female Artist of the Year.
