Twan B was born Antwan Bledsoe in Little Rock, AR, on July 22, 1986.
His parents, Evelyn and Bill Bledsoe, were both music lovers, which allowed Antwan to find a passion for music at an early age. At the age of 7, Antwan wanted to learn to play the drums. He made his own set, using taped hangers as hi hats, notebooks as snares, textbook as toms, and other household items to replace what he was missing. Antwan later fell in love with another musical instrument, the piano. After only a few lessons, his teacher quit and Antwan learned to play by ear, mimicking songs from the radio. At age 12, Antwan joined his junior high school’s band as a percussionist, playing the marimba and full drum set. At the end of that year he earned an award for “Most Outstanding Beginner Bandsman”. Another award was earned the following year for his performance in the band. By the age of 14, Antwan was a member of his high school’s marching band, arranging modern jazz and marching band music. After a year, classical music was added to Antwan’s portfolio. At the age of 16, Antwan made his first rap instrumental and wrote his first verse, after getting pointers from his older brother, BJ Bledsoe Jr. As a junior, he was also a section leader in the percussion section of the marching band. A senior at the age of 17, Antwan became the band’s Drum Major and continued to compose music for the marching band, including popular songs from the radio. Following his senior year, he received another band award, this one for his performance as Drum Major. At the age of 19, he and his older and younger brother, BJ and Dawan Bledsoe, started a label of their own called Night Rida Muzik Group, registered under their company D-Up Entertainment. Even with a long background, Antwan’s musical journey in the entertainment industry has just begun, starting with him creating music for a number of genres.
