Today it consists of 8 members: Nikos Angousis: clarinet, Makis Baklatzis: violin / vocals, Ria Ellinidou: vocals, Thanasis Koulentianos: kanun, Loukas Metaxas: bass, Dimitris Panagoulias: Percussion, Kyriakos Tapakis: oud and Foibos Apostolidis: percussion.

“Loxandra Ensemble” have worked on the study, research and performance of the urban music tradition of the Rum people of Constantinople and Smyrna, (Meyhane – Cafe Aman), the gypsy music tradition, the Greek traditional music, the classical Ottoman music and the modern urban and folk music of Turkey, the music of Arabia, Sepharadic music and the music styles of the Caucasus and the Balkans.

All members of the band – either as “Loxandra Ensemble” or separately – have occasionally worked with many distinguished musicians in concerts and discography. As a band they have also participated in Loxandra, by Maria Iordanidou, the great theatrical success of the National Theatre of Northern Greece (NTNG).

Their first album, “Almost Like in the Past...”, was released in Greece in 2006 (reprinted in 2008 and 2010) and in Turkey in 2011.

Their new album, “Meyhane – Kafe Aman”, in which many musicians and singers offer their friendly contribution, was released in December 2011. This album was the 8th of the top ten in the Music World Charts Europe, for September 2012, as well as the 41st of the top 150 albums, for the entire year.
