Formed in the U.S. by Mexican singer Ubaldo Martínez, accordionist/keyboardist Enrique Gómez, and bassist Carlos Alcara, the onda grupera outfit Los Pioneros were soon joined by guitarist Roberto Reyes and drummer Jorge Rodríguez.
The quintet mostly plays a mix of Colombian cumbia and norteño, the Mexican dance music driven by accordion and bass. Los Pioneros signed up with Univision Music Group and teamed up with producer Elio Espino before releasing Por Fin, featuring the hit single "Quinceañera." ~ Drago Bonacich
