The project of three producer/musicians, Money Mark, Shawn Lee, and Tommy Guerrero, Lord Newborn & the Magic Skulls aren't a group in the frequently accepted sense of the word, but are more of a collaborative studio configuration.
Working at Money Mark's L.A.-based studio in 2008, the trio put together a lo-fi soundscape of styles, mixing jazz, funk, bossa nova, prog rock, and electronic psychedelia with an assortment of beats and breaks into a monster mix-up that they released in 2009 on Ubiquity Records as the self-titled Lord Newborn & the Magic Skulls. ~ Steve Leggett
