Dallas band Loco Gringos played punk rock with a somewhat sarcastic edge, though they weren't nearly as over the top in their mutations of the form as fellow Texans the Butthole Surfers or the Hickoids.
While they were active, their only release was a 1987 7" single, "Nurture My Pig," later covered by the Reverend Horton Heat (who also paid tribute to the group in the song "Loco Gringos Like a Party"). The band came to a premature end, however, with the death of singer Tom Foote on June 16, 1990. Their sole album, a self-titled affair, was issued posthumously in 1992 and reissued on CD with live bonus tracks in 2006. ~ Richie Unterberger
