Electro-pop band Leyode (pronounced LEE-ode) is the duo of Yusuke Hama and Laurel Wells.
Both are natives of Atlanta, GA. Hama has classical training in violin and piano, and he later turned to guitar. After working in film and photography, he returned to music, inspired after serving as merchandise salesman and documentarian for Prefuse 73. Moving to New York, he began to compose music by experimenting with French New Wave film clips, then brought in singer Wells to form Leyode. Wells had been singing and playing music since her childhood, in Atlanta and in Athens, GA, and had also relocated to New York. The duo signed to Eastern Developments, the label co-founded by Scott Herren of Prefuse 73, and recorded their debut album, Fascinating Tininess..., for release on June 5, 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann
