Upon their 1997 debut, the Napoleons' original intention was to earn all the free beer they could play for as well as bring out the raw roots of rock & roll to their home country of Belgium.
Added to their influences of Billy Childish and the Sonics, the lineup of Eric (vocals/guitar), Joke (bass), and Rixk (drums) debuted their first EP, In Sound Shape, in 1998. A split 7" with Dead Moon followed that same year on their own label. ~ Mike DaRonco
