Originally founded as a classic-sounding doom band, in Sundsvall, Sweden, Left Hand Solution began their career in the early ‘90s with a set of demos, an appearance on 1993's Metal North compilation, and 1994's Shadowdance EP, featuring vocalist Kicki Höijertz, guitarist Jocke Mårdstam, bassist Peter Selin, and drummer Erik Barthold.
But the band parted company with Höijertz before 1996's full-length debut, Fevered, and with guitarist Mårdstam, shortly thereafter, recruiting singer Mariana Holmberg and guitarist Janne Wiklund as replacements, and recording a belated sophomore album entitled Light Shines Black for release in 2001. This saw Left Hand Solution progressing towards a more gothic style, but was followed by nothing but silence as the band struggled to find a new record deal after being dropped by Massacre Records. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
