Along with his brother Jim, William Reid was a founding member of the Jesus & Mary Chain.
The band's intoxicating post-punk sound influenced a wide range of bands that emerged in the late '80s (namely Jane's Addiction, the Verve, My Bloody Valentine, etc.). Despite enjoying some success in their native England, the band never broke out of cult status stateside. After the band disbanded in 1998, William decided to pursue a solo career, issuing his first-ever solo release, Finbegin (under the alias Lazycame), in 2001 on the Hall of Records label. The majority of the record is comprised of lo-fi acoustic-based recordings, although several tracks could've easily been J&MC songs. Finbegin has been described as "early Dylan with Psychocandy's production and Can's experimental groove" -- which isn't too far from the truth. ~ Greg Prato
