"I've known Lady Bo since she was about 16 or 17 years old.
I coached her and taught her to play and helped, too...She was playing a little bit, but she wanted to play like me. I let her hang around and she picked up what she could and she knows every move I make...She is the only one that knows the original ways..." (The late Bo Diddley, speaking in 1987)

A teenage protegee of Bo Diddley, the late Peggy Malone, nee Jones - aka Lady Bo - (1940 - 2015) toured and recorded with The Originator between circa 1957 thru 1961 and then intermittently until the mid-1990s. She also successfully led her own band, The Jewels (also variously known as The Fabulous Jewels and Lady Bo & The Family Jewel etc), which became a top R&B band on the New York/Boston/East Coast club scene in the 1960s & 1970s. The Jewels' single "We Got Togetherness", released on MGM Records in 1966, has long been a popular staple on the current northern soul music scene.

We will always remember Lady Bo - Rock & Roll's First Lady of Guitar.
