Koala formed in the city of Lichfield, in the Midands, sometime in 1998, in Martin's bedroom or Tim's bedroom, and shifted their collective ass to Birmingham and then to London in the back of a great big Lorry.
The band's first Superrotunda EP was recorded and produced by Jase Edwards of Wolfsbane in Tamworth and was self released.

This was followed by the Solid Gold Selection EP, recorded in houses Birmingham and London and produced by the band. Final mixes were made by Harvey at Southern Studios in London and the band self released this one too.

A stand along cover of The Violent Femmes 'American Music' was also recorded at Southern Studios for American anglocentric online music mag ' Excellent Online'.

Koala had by now relocated to London and were being looked after by the lovely people at T.A.R.G.O management. The band took a trip to The Path Of Condie in Perth, Scotland and recorded three tracks at T-Pot studios with ace production team Spanna and Werks and a white label 12 inch was released, containing the massive sounding 'Mna Mna' which picked up radio play from John Peel and Gary Crowley.

After this further recordings took place in various locations around London and the South East and these were eventually gatherered up into the mighty mishmashmosh of an album, titled 'DO NOT BE AFRAID' which was released in 2004 on Co-Pop records.

A second album got quite close to being finished but then Koala fell into collective hibernation where they have remained ever since.
