Started from the bottom…
Established in 2003, King Apparel was the brainchild of long time friends Tim Hoad and Paul Linton, conceived and started in the humble surroundings of their bedrooms.
With no financial backing, yet the seeds of an idea, vision and backgrounds in music, skateboarding and design, the pair were assisted in making the brand a reality by the Princes Trust Charity in their backyard of East London.
With the small loan, alongside temping jobs, social, material and financial sacrifices, and drawing on their upbringing and East End values of knowing the true value of a hard days (and nights) work they were able to launch their first collection in June 2003.
Through this unwavering determination and work ethic, their innovative design, diligent quality control, attention to detail and vision to collaborate with up and coming music artists such as Plan B and Wretch32 plus other market leading brands such as the New Era Cap co in 2003, the brand quickly gained a loyal and credible following.
A following that has grown side by side with the brand owing to the key ethics that they continue to stand by. The brand is still owned and operated independently by the founders; with a Head Quarters located a stones throw from the Olympic Park in Stratford; a limited run, no repeats policy exists to this day on all product manufactured and they continue to collaborate with the best up and coming artistic musical talent and discerning market leading brands. Principles and foundations that have led to 11 years leading the way for the British street fashion scene.
Why King?...Simply put, no other word sums up the quintessential connotations that have been associated throughout history with the integrity, strength and character of the culture and island that we proudly represent.
