Canadian country artist and actor KATE TODD is a down-to-earth, free spirited soul who has been working professionally in the entertainment industry for more than a decade.
Kate has a natural stage presence combined with an upbeat inspirational messagethat resonates with her audiences in a way that only true talent and sinceritycan! Her first major acting role was portraying Lily Randall, the teenagesinger/songwriter Shady Lane on the Internationally syndicated and award winninghit TV show, Radio Free Roscoe.
It’s hard to know where to begin with this multi-talented artist. Most recently KATE TODD was nominated for a Rising Star Award at this year's 2013Country Music Association of Ontario Awards. We can also look at her greatstart to this year with Kate’s debut single 'Footprints on the Moon' from her debut CD 'Finding My Way' being releasednationally in February, 2013.
Now that 'Footprints on the Moon' hasbeen launched, Kate is shooting for the stars and is currently ramping up to a second single release from the 'FindingMy Way' album called 'Drive',co-written with producer and Juno Award nominee Mladen Alexander. “I wanted to writean uplifting, inspirational, coming-of-age album and that was the concept we built on. 'Finding My Way' was chosen as Best New Album of 2012 atthe Radio Nation Music Awards,earned runner up for Best CanadianMusician/Band of 2012 and is distributed through MapleMusic. She was also nominated for Best Country Artist at both the Toronto Independent Music Awards & the Barrie New Music Awards.
Kate continues to act, while alternately working and focusing on her love for music.The two media have continually intertwined throughout Kate’s career, which has led to music licensing deals with the Disneyand Showcase Networks and she is currently featured in a short film to be shown at this year's Cannes Film Festival 2013. When asked which came first, music or acting, Kate will tell you, “Music has always come first as far as my personal endeavors go. My grandmother was organist and choirmasterat our church and I took piano lessons for eight years when I was a little girl. Music permeated throughout our house, we had a 'music room' with instruments,microphones and a complete record library in our basement and between the four of us (Dad, sister and Mom too), there would be different genres of music being played on each level and room of our country home!”
KATE TODD is quickly becoming an established Canadian country artist, seemingly showing up everywhere inOntario. Kate was a guest speaker for the Guelph/Humber University’s 2013 Emerge Conference in April. She was invited to host and perform at prestigious events like Folk Alliance 2013, Winterfolk 2013 and NSAI’s Tin Pan North Festival in May 2013. Kate has also showcased at both the 2012 and 2013 Canadian MusicWeek festivals.
