Jorma Kalevi ”The Governor” Louhivuori (J.K.L)



Jorma Kalevi Louhivuori aka J.K.L (28) is one of Finland’s finest up-and-coming musicians/composers. He has toured around the world (Singapore, Australia, Kenya, U.S.A, Europe etc.) for concerts and giving workshops. J.K.L has played with the world’s top-musicians such as Randy Brecker, Hugh Masekela, Bob Mintzer and Dave Liebman. He plays also plays in Ricky Tick Big Band, Big Blue, Little Blue, Lionel Beuvens Quartet, and is the leader of Sun Trio and J.K.L Quintet. Sun Trio was awarded in the Young Nordic Jazz Comet (YNJC) competition in 2006. JKL’s big brother Olavi Louhivuori is an Emma-awarded (Finnish equivalent to the Grammy) jazz drummer, who plays with Tomasz Stanko Quintet, Ilmiliekki Quartet, Oddarang and is starting a new band with Claudio Filppini & Palle Danielsson.

Multitalented J.K.L is also a composer, arranger, lyricist, teacher, producer and a singer. He writes music for all kinds of bands an his music vary from jazz to electric-pop, from reggae to afro-beat, from big bands to choirs and orchestras.

Spirituality:

We all have faith towards something, someone or just Life itself. I guess without faith it would be quite hard to achieve anything which one could be proud of. I have always felt strong connection to spiritual dimensions of existence. Being in the Now, doing the Will of The Highest of All, God/Oneness/Trinity/Love is my greatest dream. Opening and connecting my mind, heart and soul to God´s eternal Light tickles the ears of my psychical body*

There is lot´s of words I could add here about ”spirituality”, but eventually it comes to one that has the power stop me time from to time:
