Screwball is a foursome of frenetic, energetic, and poetic hardcore rappers from the public housing projects of Queensbridge, NY, and go by the stage names, Poet, Solo, KL, and Hostyle.
They performed and recorded, individually and together, throughout the late '80s with Poet appearing as half of the duo PHD, and Solo and KL as Kamakazee. Their first release under the guise of Screwball was Set It, which was recorded in 1993 and produced by Poet. Screwball went on to make several guest appearances on underground and independent recordings before releasing their major-label debut, Y2K, in 1999. Loyalty appeared two years later. ~ Roxanne Blanford
