Josh founded the influential alternative rock band Spain in 1993, with whom he has released four critically-acclaimed albums, The Blue Moods of Spain (1995, Restless Records), She Haunts My Dreams (1999, Restless Records), I Believe (2001, Restless Records), The Soul Of Spain (2012, Diamond Soul Recordings/Glitterhouse Records), and one best of compilation, Spirituals: The Best of Spain (2003, Restless Records).

With Spain, Josh has collaborated with, amongst many other musicians, former Beck/R.E.M. drummer and producer Joey Waronker, former Soundtrack Of Our Lives guitarist and producer Björn Olsson, former Elliot Smith keyboardist and solo artist Goldenboy, Jack Johnson bassist Merlo Podlewski (an original member of Spain), Ozma guitarist Daniel Brummel, and the late jazz pianist/keyboardist/composer/arranger Esbjörn Svensson.

Josh is currently in the studio recording new songs for the next Spain album, and working on solo material.
