Portland, Oregon-raised, Raleigh, North Carolina-based singer/songwriter Jon Lindsay began honing his craft at the age of three, but it wasn't until a bit later that he would become a powerhouse power pop confectioner, producer, writer, composer, and activist.
The son of a minister father and an award-winning children's book author mother, Lindsay spent his formative years fronting various bands, including the Young Sons, Catch Fire, and Carlisle, and touring as a multi-instrumentalist with artists like Nicole Atkins and Benji Hughes. In 2009 he issued an independent debut EP, Magic Winter & the Dirty South, and co-founded Charlotte's Machine Theatre, where he served as music director. In 2010 Lindsay released his first full-length, Escape from Plaza-Midwood, via Chicago's Chocolate Lab Records, followed in 2012 by the Bear Hearts Fox-issued Summer Wilderness Program. The following year, Lindsay, along with Whiskeytown violinist/vocalist Caitlin Cary, co-founded a regional, politically active artist collective called the North Carolina Music Love Army. Through the collective, Lindsay released a series of powerful protest songs, and in 2015 he issued a pair of singles in anticipation of his third studio long player, Cities and Schools, which was set for release in 2016. ~ James Christopher Monger
