American DJ/Producer Johnny Yono was a late bloomer within the Electronic Dance Music scene. Born and raised in a suburb outside of Detroit, Michigan -- his passion for electronic music began in the late 90's when he was sucked in to the Motor City's underground rave scene. It wasn't until years later that he started to experiment with producing his own music but, strictly as a hobby. After parting ways with his rock band in 2000, he was bit by the acting bug and further pursued a TV/Film career in Los Angeles after heading out West in 2003.
His love for electronic music found its way back to him in 2007 after seeing live performances from Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk and Sasha and Digweed. As his acting career was placed on the backburner, Johnny quickly put a small studio together and began constructing dance music pieces and slowly crafted his edgy, Progressive Trance sound. It wasn't until 2011 that his career really started to take shape. After being scouted by Daniel Kandi and Phillip Alpha, who saw great potential in Johnny after hearing his remix of Roger Shah's single, "Lay Down", he was soon after signed exclusively to UK's powerhouse Trance label, Enhanced Recordings.
The later part of 2011 leading in to early 2012 brought Johnny great success as he spawned his breakthrough hit single, "Fairfax" which saw massive support from Armin van Buuren on 'A State of Trance' and also racked up four consecutive plays from Markus Schulz on 'Global DJ Broadcast' including winning the "Global Selection" vote on its follow-up play. The track also reached #11 on Beatport's Top 100 Trance chart and was continuously hammered out in Markus' live sets thereafter as well as being featured on several notable compilations including 'World Tour - Best Of 2012' mixed by Markus Schulz and 'United Destination' 2012 mixed by Dash Berlin. Following the trailblaze of 'Fairfax' was his single, "Break These Chains" which grabbed a "Smash of the Week'" play on 'Mainstage Podcast' with W&W and support from many others. Shortly after, Johnny teamed up with the young Dutch talent, Juventa to create, "The Machine" which saw a release on Armada Music's prestigious imprint, Captivating Sounds. The track's unique fusion of dark, Progressive Tech-Trance caught the attention of many around the globe after landing itself at #5 on Beatport's Trance chart and a feature in DJ Mag as "Single of the Month".
Johnny kickstarted 2013 in high gear after delivering his collaboration with Mike Danis titled, "Ambrosia" which gained immediate support from Armin on ASOT, Above & Beyond on 'Group Therapy Radio' and was included on the 'Enhanced Sessions Vol. 3' compilation mixed by Daniel Kandi and Estiva. Just a month later, came his massive remix of "Sucker Punch" from Tangle & Mateusz Vs. Lele Troniq, which won the "Push the Button" vote on Group Therapy with Above & Beyond. He then further cemented his establishment on Lange Recordings with his hit single, "Orion" -- once again, grabbing Armin's attention with a spin on ASOT. The track acquired additional support from Paul van Dyk on 'VONYC Sessions', Gareth Emery, Judge Jules and many others as well as being included on 'Trance World - Vol. 18' mixed by Protoculture.
His music has seen support from the likes of Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Paul van Dyk, Dash Berlin, Gareth Emery, Judge Jules, Paul Oakenfold, W&W, Lange, Andy Moor, Max Graham, Protoculture, Tritonal, Daniel Kandi and Bobina to name just a few.
