He is the vocalist and bass guitarist with psych drone band The Neon Violets and runs Yurt Sessions which features bands, poetry, discussion and interviews broadcast live online from a Mongolian yurt.

Joe is currently recording a solo album and looking for new musicians to join The Neon Violets.

Joe has been a member of several other bands. Most recently with psychedelic rock band Spiral 25. He has also played with Flite 118 (former band of The Darkside vocalist Nick Hayden), Dirty Sci-Fi and Nachala.

Joe records almost entirely at home from an upstairs room. Some of the recordings such as “Zither Blues”, a track which uses a glass bottle slide on a fretless guitar zither, are completely improvised pieces of music, played and recorded once.
