German TV host and actress Barbara Schöneberger was born in Munich on March 5, 1974 as the daughter of clarinet player Hans Schöneberger.
After graduating from high school, she began to study sociology, art history and communication studies in Augsburg, and worked for an agency in Munich. Her first TV role was a guest spot in the TV series Café Meineid, which was quickly followed by several other appearances. She quit her studies in 1999 and concentrated on TV fulltime, hosting shows from TieBreak to Weck Up, Girlscamp, Blondes Gift and Die Schöneberger-Show, while guesting on several other shows. She also acted in a number of TV movies and theaterical features. In 2006, Schöneberger added music to her endeavours, singing with the Capital Dance Orchestra in the show Stars Go Swing. A year later, she toured as the singer of the Berlin Pops Orchestra, and released her first album Jetzt singt sie auch noch! (Now she sings, too!) in November 2007. The album encompasses jazz and pop, featuring several compositions by the duo of Frank Ramond and Matthias Hass (who had already written songs for Annett Louisan), plus adaptations of old standards, among them "The Lady Is a Tramp" and Cole Porter's "Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love". ~ Christian Genzel
