At 17 years old, Jessica Lombard has carved out a unique identity as both a songwriter and performer.
She started playing piano when she was 4 years old. She began composing original pieces at age 8. By the time she was 10 years old, she was writing her own lyrics, some of which made it on to her debut album, 15 Minutes Ago, released when she was just 12. Her music has evolved since then: she still plays keys, but has added a 3-piece backing band to her live set-up, which has undeniably influenced her songwriting."I love writing on my own on the piano," Jessica explains. "And, I still do that quite a bit. But now that I’ve got a band and have access to all these other instruments and sounds, I find myself imagining how the songs I’m writing will sound with them and how they will sound with us playing them live."

Her most recent collection of songs captures the confusion, isolation and frustration of teenagers figuring out who they are and who they want to be. "It makes sense to write what you know," she says. "My music has a melancholy feel to it these days. I think I’ve always had that in me, but I'm just now figuring out how to express it."

You can catch Jessica and her band playing at clubs in the Los Angeles area, including the legendary Roxy Theatre
