Dutch artist Janne Schra is soulful vocalist whose eclectic pop touches upon jazz, country, and R&B influences.
Born in Laren, the Netherlands in 1981, Schra first came to the public's attention as a member of the jazz-pop ensemble Room Eleven, with whom she recorded two highly successful albums: 2006's Six White Russians & a Pink Pussycat and 2008's Mmm...Gumbo? After Room Eleven disbanded in 2009, Schra embarked on a solo career. In 2011, she released her debut solo effort, India Lima Oscar Victor Echo You, under the pseudonym Schradinova. Also around this time, Schra appeared on collaborations with such artists as Kraak & Smaak, Dayna Kurtz, Benjamin Herman, and many others. In 2013, she returned with her first proper self-titled solo album, the eponymously titled Janna Schra, which included the song "Eyes on the Prize," a duet with guitarist M. Ward. The following year, she collaborated yet again, this time with guitarist Robin Nolan and his trio on a gypsy jazz-influenced album. Schra's fifth studio album, the Torre Florim-produced PONZO, was set for release in 2015. ~ Matt Collar
