His musical style is Babyface meets Mario. He has been involved in and inspired by music since his childhood. He plays several instruments including saxophone, keyboards, drums and guitar. He has been a member of several musical performing groups, both singing and playing including three R&B singing groups, a music fraternity in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the Marching Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University.

As a graduate of B-CU in Music, J. Rashaan has embarked on a musical journey that has led to the blending of several genres, into what he calls Indie R&B. The more acoustic feel to his music is sure to be the thing you notice first, before taking note of his deep lyrical content and romantic melodies with a hint of gospel harmonies. He has honed his musical skills over the years by being a musician, arranger, songwriter and singer. After twelve years associated with parts of the music industry, he has finally been successful in bringing his ecclectic, soulful, musical vision to light, with his debut single aptly named "A Dream Deferred".

J. Rashaan has just been selected to perform on several musical selections for the Soundtrack to the independent film "The Show", coming to theaters in 2016.

Acoustic R&B Album "Songs in the Key of Me" is scheduled to be released on March 25, 2014.
