Intrinsic were an obscure heavy metal band from Morro Bay, CA, that formed in 1984 and released an independent self-titled LP four years later, garnering a few positive comparisons to Metal Church's trad-metal approach, marked by occasional borderline thrashing.
At the time of its release, the group was composed of vocalist Garrett Graupner, guitarists Ron Crawford and Michael Mellinger, bassist Joel Stern, and drummer Christopher Binns, but the first two had been replaced by Lee Dehmer, Jr. and Garrett Craddock, respectively, come 1990's Distortion of Perspective EP. This lineup struggled on unsuccessfully for a time, but the bandmembers eventually realized they had no better choice than to pack it up, leaving only a posthumous 1996 CD, appropriately named Closure, to be released in Japan. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
